About
Cedar Water LLC is an education, consulting, and design practice open to new projects. One active project is developing a regenerative agroforestry collective in South Jersey — building chestnut and black locust orchards on leased land. The work is community-centered and the movement grows like the forest, long-term through successional phases, and patchy, with different opportunities in different places.
Alongside the land work: tools for educators and practitioners. AI-assisted pipelines for teachers, mapping tools for farmers, research and legal scaffolding for land stewards, and curriculum for the next generation of ecological thinkers. Board Member, Permaculture Institute of North America. Former instructor, Cornell University Permaculture Program. Former General Manager, Keystone Tree Crops Cooperative. Former Eco-Social Worker. BS — Mechanical Engineering. M.Ed — Secondary Math & ESL Certificate, expected July 2026.
Projects
GradBot
AI-powered study assistant for graduate students. Turns course readings into interactive deep notes, quizzes, card sorts, and semester summaries — organized for your actual career path, not just the syllabus.
MASL — Math as a Second Language
Claude reads existing math curriculum (Illustrative Mathematics, etc.) and rewrites it with embedded language scaffolding for multilingual learners — TRY SAYING sentence frames, ACCESS/STANDARD/EXTENSION differentiation, and interactive card sorts. Hours of prep time reduced to minutes per lesson.
TobyVision — Slope Map
An idea conceived in traffic, built the same day. Enter any address and see USGS live slope data overlaid on the map — color-coded for agroforestry suitability. 12–20% is the sweet spot for mechanized nut harvest; above 20% is hand-harvested terrain. No backend, no API key.
Philadelphia Events Calendar
A fully automated weekly pipeline that scrapes 20+ universities and cultural institutions in Philadelphia, scores events for speaker prominence, global relevance, and public access, then generates a formatted calendar — deployed with one command. Four hours of curation, ten minutes of compute.
Endless Jam
Jams mostly recorded in Ashland, NJ with a rotating cast of friends — spanning 2002 through the present, with over 900 sessions in the archive. Streams audio directly from Google Drive via a Flask proxy, with no file hosting costs. Built with a late-90s internet aesthetic: a composition notebook UI, per-track Song Feels, and a site-wide Guestbook backed by a persistent database. UI elements are pixel-positioned using a custom-built layout tool.
AI Powered Permaculture Talk
A 40-minute talk on when high-tech can be appropriate technology — covering lease analysis tools, multilingual math scaffolding, automated pipelines, and slope mapping. Includes a live demo and honest accounting of what Claude gets wrong about permaculture.
